The Great Race Wars began a new wave in tactics designed to intimidate, segregate and all-around annoy the people who looked different than yourself. While some pacifists lobbies and equality groups originally worked to end the war, they eventually killed each other after an argument over whose tactics were better suited for the situtation.
In the decades spanning the war, the most efficient way of displaying your aversion towards the other race was found to be in digital media. The most popular form is projecting unpleasant images on the moon, when it glows over the other hemisphere. The cheapest, and more favorable form, is simply sending robots equipped with large speakers to roam the streets playing early 21st Century Alternative Rock, which will be defined as the worst sound to have ever been produced by 2038.
While lynchings and public burnings saw a near-revival in the first years of the war, as a fit of nostalgia and "retro-chic", eventually the trees themselves tired of being used this way and left the planet by pollinating visiting space ships and refusing to take water through their roots until they died. While the landscape of the future remained barren for some time, eventually the mix of blood and topsoil birthed new vegetation that is too horrible to describe.
